A stretch of Rue Calve Subbraya Chetty (Vysial Street), between Rue de la Cathedrale (Rue des Missions) and Mahatma Gandhi Street in the Tamil Town, is one of the rare streetscapes where the traditional continuous verandahs (thalavaram and thinnai) have survived. INTACH took up the restoration and re- designing of this traditional streetscape with the objective to showcase a typical Tamil streetscape and to persuade the house owners to appreciate their heritage houses.

INTACH won the Award of Excellence in the UNESCO 2005 Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation for the restoration of Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum. Opened in 1872, it is the oldest museum in Mumbai and documents the city’s history and diverse cultural heritage.

Aali Masjid was constructed in 1471 A.D. by Sultan Hassan Shah of the Shahmiri dynasty, within the premises of the main Eidgah at Srinagar. INTACH J&K Chapter in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Kashmir took up the conservation and reuse plan for the building which commenced in 2008.

The monuments at Lodi garden stand out as landmark of pre Mughal architecture in the city. INTACH with the approval of Archaeological Survey of India and with the support of Steel Authority of India Ltd. has started restoration work on the site.

INTACH Baroda Chapter was instrumental in getting World Heritage Status for Champaner Pavagadh. Revitalization of Medhi Talav Ensemble on Pavagadh Hill won US Ambassadorial Grant for Cultural Preservation 2003.

Raghurajpur a village in Orrisa is traditionally famous for their ‘Pattachitra’ Puri style of painting. INTACH undertook a project to revive this traditional art form by training the villagers in their craft to enhance traditional and performing art of the village as an initiative to develop Rural Tourism.
