What’s Conservation
Conservation refers to any direct or indirect intervention, which by one way or the other, prolongs the life of the art object. However it is of prime importance that in this endeavour it should also preserve its historical, religious and aesthetic value. It is important to understand that conservation should be looked at as an ongoing process and therefore it does not necessarily begin and terminate with the intervention of a conservation expert. It is a collective responsibility that must be shared by the conservator and the owner of the object. Conservation is usually understood as a bi-partite action- preventive conservation and curative conservation.
